Before I begin, I would like to say, I love Martin Luther King Jr.
He is a great man that did a lot for the Civil Rights Movement.
But people....
calling it Martin Luther King Jr. Day is like calling Presidents Day "Abraham Lincoln Day".
That's not really fair to George Washington or any other president for that matter.
So why do we think it's fair to call this day "Martin Luther King Jr. Day" when there were so many others that played a big part in bringing segregation of skin color to an end.
For example,
My personal favorite
Rosa Parks
Refused to give up her seat to a white person on the bus.
What gave that man the right to have that seat? Nothing.
Emmett Till
Who thought a white woman was pretty so he whistled at her.
What gave that woman's husband the right to take a 14 year old out of his bed and beat, torture and, shoot him in the head and then push him into the Tallahatchie River? Nothing.
These are just a FEW of the many people that helped end segregation.
Let's remember all those that had a part in this amazing day.
Happy Civil Right's Day!
