After eating our Mac N' Cheese,
the boys stipped down to their undies
and we started painting.

Happy boy playing with Grandpa while we were finishing the poster.
After the poster was done,
we were cleaning up the paint and just sitting around when the trauma happened.
Grandma Morgan was sitting by the fireplace with Ryan next to her.
He, being the stinker he is, got the remote and changed something on the TV.
So grandma turned around to grab the remote and started fixing what Ryan had done,
when Ryan snuck behind her and touched the glass of the fireplace.
We hurried and grabbed him and put his whole forearm in water, then loaded on the Aloe Vera.
As the burn started to become more apparent, we realized that it looked a lot worse than we thought.
We called our neighbor Callie, who happens to be a Nurse in the ER.
No answer.
So my dad and I jumped in the car with a blanket wrapped around Ryan and drove to her house.
Her car wasn't there so we figured she was at work.
We went to pick Phill up at the Daily Herald, and then raced over to the ER
where Karen (leslie's mom-ryan's grandma) was working.
She met us outside and took us in right away.
By this point, Ryan had stopped screaming for the most part,
until someone he didn't know would touch him or look at him.
We got sent back to the Fast Track of the hospital where the doctor came in to take a look.
He checked the burn to see
1. if it was a circumference burn around his pinkie finger and arm
2. how severe the burn was.
He informed us that the biggest thing you need to worry about with a burn on an infant is if the burn goes around the circumference of the finger or arm. If Ryan's had, we would have been admitted to the burn unit.
Luckily it wasn't, it was only down the outside of his arm and finger.
The doctor then explained that the reason burns hurt people is because those nerve endings are being exposed to air. That is why when we put our burn in water it feels better.
When you recieve a burn you should, submerge the burn in cool water (not cold), then place a dry cloth over it to shield it from the air.
The doctor decided that it was probably a 2nd Degree burn.
They were worried when they touched the middle of the burn and Ryan didn't react that it would be a 3rd Degree burn, but with 2 doctors opinions they ruled out the 3rd Degree burn idea.
The doctor/nurses placed some soothing medicine on Ryan's left arm and wrapped itloosely in gauze.
He stopped screaming after that.
The whole ride home, he just sat on my lap (I know..Illegal...), and didn't move.
He was still in shock from what had all just happened.
Right when we got back to Grandma and Grandpa Morgan's house, he saw Kendrick and instantly started laughing. Everything Kendrick did, Ryan laughed so hard at.
Ryan was happy the rest of the night.
Ryan's face the whole night basically until Kendrick started making him laugh.

I am just so glad that I was with my parents when it happened, I don't think I would have known how to handle that as well as they did.
Thank you Mom and Dad!
Thank you Karen for being at work!
All in all, it was a LONG night, but we survived it!
Ryan has to go in on Thursday to get it rechecked to make sure it's healing properly.
It hasn't yet blistered, but it definately will.
Ryan was such a brave 1 1/2 year old!

Poor little guy. :o( What a trooper! :o)
